Our bags are designed for everyday use, however to ensure the longevity of your bag they need to be treated with love and care. We recommend that you do not overload your bag with more than 4kg. We always advise putting a spray, suitable for natural leathers, on our bags before use. This will help protect the colour from environmental factors and generally put a barrier on the leather. Baby wipes are also good for keeping leather clean, or a dampened soft cloth with a mild, clear hand soap, but be very carefully not to rub too hard as it will lift the colour. Always test on an inconspicuous area of the bag or purse first. It is advisable to treat your bag with a clear natural wax every 2 months, which will help nourish the leather, keeping it supple. After doing this we would advise re-spraying the bag with the natural leather protector spray used on the bag when you initially purchased it.
The tanning process used on all of our leathers is natural, which gives our leather that decadent touch. This in turn makes the leather very porous and any spillages will set into the leather quickly, so they need to be attended to immediately by wiping it with a soft cloth. It is difficult to remove stains from leather once they have set, so don’t leave biros with no top or make up loose in your bag. Be careful of pigment transfer from dark coloured clothing, denim is well known for this. Oil, grease and ink are virtually impossible to remove.
Our leathers are as colour fast as a natural product can be. However it is advisable to give consideration to what you are wearing when using dark coloured leathers, particularly when in hot climates, as a small amount of colour transfer may occur. Leather is not waterproof, so if it is pouring with rain, it is advisable to use a different bag. However, if it does get wet, blot with a paper towel, and then pack loosely with paper allowing it to dry naturally. Never place leather in direct heat or sunlight for prolonged periods of time as this may cause the leather to crack or the colour to fade unevenly. Please be aware that light coloured leathers are more susceptible to getting dirty and changes in colour through, sunlight, rain and general wear, therefore they need a little extra TLC. We recommend protecting all of our bags with a clear wax, or spray that is suitable for natural leathers, as detailed above. We will not take responsibility for damage deemed to be through wear and tear of the product. Surface markings or scuffs that appear on natural finished leathers, such as those used on our bags, are often superficial and as a result of the movement of oils in the leather. You can usually rub these out with a little bit of pressure from your finger. Leather ages naturally, colours can change and darken or fade with use; these are the natural characteristics of our bags. They are intended to be worn and loved and they will improve with age, if cared for properly.
